WW2 German vehicles are rare in this part of the world but this is slowly changing with the recent import of a small collection of restoration projects. This L3000S had been languishing in Holland for twenty years after being pulled out of Austria in the early 1980s. The Mercedes had been for offered for sale for a while, waiting for a new owner mad enough to take on such a project. After a purchase agreement had been signed the truck was paid for, packed into a 40ft container with other projects and dispatched to NZ.
On arrival a few inconsistencies were noted against the purchase agreement. Parts had been removed that were clearly shown in the pictures but most important, the truck did not have a full set of serviceable wheels. This was very disappointing but the previous owner is working towards a solution. (25.05.07 Replacement Merc/blitz wheels have since been supplied- Thanks Marc! ). A spare parts L3000S was included in the deal and would prove to be a vital source of parts for the restoration.
