This month also sees the return from overseas travel of ex-club president, Ken Snow. He is bringing along a new game and/or armies (not sure which - very mysterious!) that he acquired while he was away. Those of you who remember Ken can be assured it will be something very interesting and the game is open to anyone who wants to join in. Good to see you back Ken (and he also got married while he was away!).

RUMORS

Bloodbowl has been re-released (with apparently no changes from the previous 3rd edition) and is available from GW now, with the Death Zone supplement to follow next month. Looks like this game will be hot with the possibility of a club league starting real soon if enough members get into it. Looks like it's time to start painting up that new team!

For Fantasy Battle, Dark Riders are here for all you Dark Elves and don't these new figures really rock!! Absolutely brilliant stuff, and the new Dark Elf Sorceress is a really cool model as well. High Elves get the Lothern Sea Guard and also a new mounted mage. A new Empire plastic boxed set regiment is in the pipeline. Due for release shortly it will be able to be finished as either halberdiers or swordsmen, complete with command figures, etc. Also coming is a revised Empire army book

Last month's games

Some players kindly supplied the following battle reports:

Warhammer Fantasy Battle.

Ivan Soo (Dwarfs) beat Andrew Brailsford (Wood Elves): My organ gun was my greatest choice. It destroyed Andrew's Wardancers, mage and a unit of scouts! In the end I managed to destroy Andrew's entire army before his last turn!! Although I thought it was silly for Andrew to put the Heart of Woe on his general he did wipe out all my Thunderers and Troll Slayers when the Heart activated.

Glenn Orsbourne (Orcs & Goblins) beat Robert Davies (Chaos Beastmen): This was a real cat and mouse game to start with. Initially a lot of manoeuvring took place then the chariots on both sides got stuck in. Robert has some pretty abysmal dice rolling at critical moments and Glenn took advantage of this to hammer home the win without his main units even being engaged!

Bryan Orsbourne (Chaos Nurgle Daemons) beat Peter Colson (Lizardmen): Gutflab Wormflesh,  Greater Daemon of Nurgle, stared malevolently at the Lizard horde that dared to stand in his way and obstruct his master's plans. He glanced around at his newly formed retinue and nodded approvingly at the Plaguebearers eager to put their plagueswords to work. Nurglings were everywhere, taunting the lizardmen, whilst his beastmen allies were braying with the excitement of battle. Two Beasts of Nurgle slithered into view and Gutflab knew that the lizards were doomed.

Djellibeybi, the Slann Mage-Priest, felt a shiver run down his spine (or he would have done, but everyone knows frogs don't have spines) at the sight of the mighty chaos horde bearing down on him. He wiped the sweat from his brow and cursed the swarms of flies that had suddenly appeared and were buzzing all around him. Trying not to let his nervousness show the Mage-Priest ordered his Saurus warriors and Stegadon forward to meet the Nurgle threat.

Suddenly the beastman shaman turned into a chaos spawn and charged, along with the rest of the beastmen, into the Saurus warriors, pushing them back and eventually breaking them. The Nurglings tricked the Stegadon into charging them, then cleverly evaded the charge, leaving the Stegadon to be charged itself by the Plaguebearers and easily dispatched by the swing of a plaguesword. Gutflab, along with the Beasts of Nurgle, gave their personal attention to the Mage-Priest, killing the accompanying Temple Guard and causing the Mage-Priest to take to the air by magic to save himself. However, not before the accursed Mage-Priest had killed a Beast of Nurgle with his Hydra sword and inflicted some damage on Gutflab Wormflesh who just took the wounds in his stride.

Robert Davies (Chaos Beastmen) beat Ivan Soo (Orcs & Goblins): My Night Goblin fanatics were terrible killing none other than my own guys! My wolf chariots did most of the killing but in the end Robert would probably have won that.

Man-O-War.

Leo Henderiks (Chaos Slaanesh fleet) beat Allister Nicholas (Empire fleet): I sank, I sank, I sank one of his and then I lost!

Warhammer 40K.

Kevin Carberry (Ork) Draw with Robert Groom (Chaos): This was a bitter fight with heavy losses on both sides. We were down to our last men by the end of turn four and both sides retired leaving the battle feild littered with bodies and buzzer squigs (Yeh for Squig catapults).

Warzone.

Jarrod Finlay (Cybertronics) beat Kevin Carberry (Capatols) & Matene Uataki (Imperials): The sun beat down on the parched earth of Venus. The Capatol and Imperial forces watched as the Cybers closed in on their positions.

"We will hold these bunkers till we die", said the Capatol commander. And die they did! Early on in the battle the bunkers looked doomed. Bloody firefights were followed by frantic close combat. Defeat loomed for the Capatols and Imperials. Repelling a Cybertronic charge the allies
