The new Undead book or books for Fantasy Battle are on the horizon with the new dry Undead list being just released in White Dwarf. Rumours of a new Undead stagecoach type model?, and some new Undead troop types abound. Expect to see more about the Undead soon. Time to dust off all those Undead armies out there and start using them again.

Dechala from Champions of Chaos has been sighted and is apparently an awesome model. More Dogs of War Regiments of Renown are coming, including a Dogs of War 2 which is supposed to contain a Goblin Regiment of Renown - now who would want that?!!

Dark Eldar in the new 40K are all the rage. If you want any army with some very interesting troop types and some mean weaponry then this army is going to be real popular. The Dark Eldar codex is the next to be released, to be followed shortly by the Blood Angel codex

PAINTING SERVICE:

As most of you already know Bryan provides a painting service for WFB and 40K figures. A lot of people have been asking about prices so here they are:

Rank & file foot figure, artillery crewman, chariot crewman, etc $5

Rank & file mounted figure $10

Character on foot $10

Character mounted $15 to $20

Larger monster $20 to $80

Chariot, war machine,etc $15 to $40

Time taken to paint your figures depends on how I feel, how much spare time I have and how much other work I have on the go (including my own armies). All figures will be painted eventually but no time guarantees can be given, however people who want to pay up front will jump the queue and get priority! Discounts are negotiable for large quantities of figures.

I’ve just recently completed some Hobgoblins for Tony’s Chaos Dwarf army, and some Deathwing Terminators for Ivan. I’m working on a large Brettonian contingent for Damien, and some Chaos Bloodletters for Robert. This should give you an idea of where I’m at. For further details see Bryan at club meetings or phone 2680820.

Battle Reports

Some players kindly supplied the following battle reports from our September meeting:

 Warhammer Fantasy Battle:

Jarrod Finlay (Skaven) severely roasted Bryan Orsbourne (Chaos Nurgle Daemons): Jarrod really got stuck into my Nurgle army, showing no fear his massive rat hordes (well small rat infestations really - as he didn’t seem to have much in his army!) scuttled forward. Warpfire throwers roasted my Beastmen allies, taking out 15 (yes 15!) in one shooting phase alone! The bar-be-que jokes didn’t stop all day after that! Then, in a well-thought out strategy, Jarrod got my Great Unclean One (none other than Gutflab Wormflesh himself - Greater Daemon of Nurgle) with the help of van Horstmann’s Speculum sent Gutflab back into the Warp. A disastrous day for Nurgle.

Bryan Orsbourne (Chaos Nurgle Daemons) beat Andrew Brailsford (Orcs & Goblins): Another hard fought battle for my Nurgle lads but one in which they triumphed (mainly because Andrew borrowed an army at the last minute and ran with it as it was - jolly decent of him really!).

Bryan Orsbourne (Chaos Nurgle Daemons) beat Manoj Parsot (Chaos Warriors): Manoj was itching to try out Archaon - one of the new special characters from the Champions of Chaos book, so I felt it was only fair to give Archaon a bit of a hiding for his trouble. It didn’t quite work out that way as Archaon was still standing (or riding) at the end of the game, but unfortunately the rest of Manoj’s army was destroyed!

Ivan (Empire) beat Warren (Dwarves) :That was an awesome game. Throughout the game I was losing but just holding out e.g. 2 Halberdiers against 16 crossbowmen. Finally my War Wagon horse killed 1 dwarf and broke the unit destroying his stuntie general and unit and making several other units break winning it for me. Gonna share that Bugman’s xxxxx now? Ha Ha Ha !

Manoj (Chaos Warriors) beat Michael (Orcs and Gobbos) : A deadly battle between the two hordes resulting in the Orcs and Goblins having 1500 more than the Chaos Warriors. Yet the Chaos lord literally won the battle himself. The combat between the warriors started from turn one and was finally resolved with the warriors killed, but the Slaanesh mage accompanying them stayed so only 1 out of 3 units attacking could pursue. I have to say that due to the lack of numbers the Orcs couldn’t charge them. The Giant couldn’t even strike back cos he had been slaughtered, he collapsed crushing two Chaos Knights. Chaos lords achievements for the day 1.Shouted battlecry- Blood for the Blood god. 2.Charged Goblins killing them all. 3.Charged Giant killed him. 4.Charged Shaman lord and killed him. 5.Looked for more opponents after watching opponents run away.

Ivy (Europeans) vs. Ken (Turks) :

This was played as a mini-campaign, with each player having three divisions and each division vs. Division engagement played as a separate game. Game 1-European cav. Vs Turkish cav. The Europeans were badly beaten but held out in the village of Ober Elch until their reinforcements arrived and the Turks were routed. Game 2-South of Albeck the European Light Division was Badly Mauled but managed to repulse the Turks (those Europeans are pretty repulsing aren’t they, P.C.). Game 3-The European Line Division destroys the Turkish Line Division in the decisive engagement of the campaign. Game 4-The Turkish Light Division tries to destroy the European Line but is Repulsed. Overall victory to Ivan and the Europeans.

A rather unusual battle report by Jarrod about his games: The Chronicles of Thallic : "We were forced to split our forces to ensure the deliverance of the warpstone. A force of rotting daemons was encamped around Putrid Stump. A splinter was sent to break the siege. A further force was sent into the forest of Loren to reach secret tunnels. In the early morning as the mists rose a runner arrived to tell that the siege had been broken."The siege is broken, Nurgle defeated." The runner panted. "In the battle-battle titanic clash between magic users" (12 cards for one spell ‘Blade Wind’, dispel raised to 0, then reinforced to 6, I rolled it and understandably that was it for the magic phase). "A warpfire thrower killed 12 beastmen. In the battle we suffered less than a paw of casualties." The runner collapsed from exhaustion.

"We pushed on into the woods with the knowledge that some of the warpstone was safe. The black clouds swam overhead. The above world is always raining (Jarrod lakes using the ‘Storm Banner’ a lot). Yeska spotted movement in the trees. We deployed quickly and fought the tree dwellers. Noah teleported me under the effects of the brew, the pale skin fled into the Moulder Ogres. Strange they flee towards Ogres rather than fight me. My reputation must be fearsome indeed. I accompanied the Ogres into the battle and destroyed the horse riding things. As the forest burned the lady pale flesh tried to counter our magic. When the wheel killed the chief pointy ear all that was left were two tree daemons. Queek challenged the sorceress and slayed her but she escaped. One tree daemon was crushed under the wheel. The other as it fled was set upon by a vicious warp spawned borer beetle. As the she pointy dispelled Noah his fury grew until he skitterleaped the Doom Wheel into the air. It must have been very strange as a whistling sound was heard. Then the Wheel came to earth the hairless skin beneath it. We reached the tunnel unopposed. All the stone safe with the Horned One pleased by our performance. For the greater glory of me this was done with just over a paw of dead. And with enough food to last us for weeks.

Peter (Lizardmen) vs. Jarret (tree huggers) : This injustice could be suffered no longer! It was time to wage vengeful war upon the Elf-spawn of Loren. They shall never again steal our booze. So important this task was that the undying one himself, Venerable Lord Kroak, was summoned to battle. Enlisted in the aid of the Elf-spawn were a contingent of the metal clad man-spawn of the coast of the World Pond. These fools threw their lives away charging into the many ranks of Kroaks personal Temple Guard. It would have been wiser to impale one’s self on the horns of a stegadon. Our revered lord Qtlar destroyed both of the tree-spawns with a ball of incandescent fury and followed on to destroy the Elf-witch in like fashion. Mightiest Kroak personally slew the Elf-spawn’s largest regiment and another Elf-spawn magician. As the battle drew to an end Qtlar vanquished the Elf-spawn’s leader and his accompanying retinue. Thus the Elf-spawn were defeated, and thus I, Xpac the scribe, hath informed my masters so.

Warhammer 40K:

Peter (Guardsmen) vs. Warren (Guardsmen) : A hard fought game for the Guardsmen, but they could not prevail against the might of the Guardsmen, full credit to the Guardsmen. As it became clear that victory was no longer within reach of the Guardsmen, the Guardsmen decided to sell their lives dearly and take as many Guardsmen down with them as possible. Another victory to the Guardsmen, and another nail in the coffin of the doomed Guardsmen.
