This news is from the German Gamesday in Cologne. Andy Chambers, Adrian Wood and Tim Adcock were present:

Vampire Army Book will be out in mid 1999. It contains 4 bloodlines of Vampires ( Carstein, Lahmia, Dragon Templars and Necrolans), all will have different abilities, e.g. shapeshifting. The list will have 3 levels of Vampires (Lord, Count, Baron) which have to be from the same bloodline for one army. General can be Lord (300 p, 3 Magic Items, Magic Level 3, 2 spells) or Count (185 p, 2 MI, Lev 2, 1 spell). 4 levels of Necromancers (abilities as usual). Army Banner Bearer can be Vampire or Wight. Champions can be Wraiths, Wights or Skeleton Champs. Characters can ride Nightmare steed (?), same abilities as Skeleton Steeds or winged NmS or Manticore.

New character: Banshee (100 p), 1 per 1000 points army. Cries in shooting phase, any unitl in 8" takes 2 D6 +2 - Ld wounds. RnF will have foot Skellies, Tomb Guardians, zombies, Ghouls 0-1 units wraiths, werewolves (they may have a Warg leader), vampire bats, mounted wights (only 1W, 26p). A swarm of bats will cost 50p. No more skellie riders, Carrions, Chariots, scull chuckers, Ghosts, Liches.

New: Black coach with wraith (200p), no special rules available yet.

Necromantic magic: spells chosen freely, re-cast as usual. Raise only skellies and zombies, Vanhel's: only skellies, tomb guardians, zombies and mounted wights.

Monsters: only swarms, Zombie Dragon (500p), flying NmS and Manticore.

Most important: NO MORE CRUMBLE RULE!!!

Mortheim Game will be out as boxed game. Contains rules and plastic miniatures (sprues), Skaven and adventurers from Empire (very good models).

Battlefleet Gothic out in English and German (no other translations planned for now). Many new releases including ships for Empire, Chaos, Eldar, Orcs, Dark Eldar and Space Stations over next few months.

Dogs of War: new releases Skink Cold One riders (can not be followed when broken), 2 Albion giants (with very thin legs) and male Druid (normal rules for giants, can use Druid's Ld), pair of Witch Hunters (completely immune to psychology, but hate Undead and Daemons, 4+ dispell).

Plastic boxed sets: Dwarves only released in Italy next month, rest of world later with other new dwarves (no date yet). Next will be Orcs (fantasy with spears and hand weapons and 40k with hand weapons and different guns - they are looking GREAT) and zombies. High Elves design just finished (with spears and bows), will be released in appr. 9 months together with new shadow warriors (estimate of Tim), next is planned to be Dark Elves.

Metal releases: Skink special characters and Skink shaman, Dark Eldar female Warlord, 2 Dark Eldar special characters, Mandrakes, Space Marine Leader, Dwarf Stonethrower (maybe release postponed with plastics).

THIS EDITORIAL CONTAINS VIOLENCE AND SEX SCENES. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.

THE PETE-HOUSE FORUM.

A small forum this month as I actually have a battle report to write up, you won’t have to read any more forums if you write battle reports.

Battle reports. Now that the club has got back into the swing of things (see how important you are to the club, Bryan), you lot have got to start writing your battle reports, as the newsletter is really boring without them, and I don’t see why you guys don’t like writing them as they are the perfect opportunity to gloat about your victory and make fun of the poor sod that lost. The battle reports don’t have to be long, in fact it’s a great favour if you keep them short and sweet as I don’t have to do as much work. I have noticed people arguing over who writes the report up, so I propose that, unless a player volunteers, the winner writes it up, and roll a d6 in the case of a draw.

40K Campaign. Ivan will be running a story based campaign. I understand that any army can take part. For more details you’ll have to talk to Ivan

My Opinion. Just one last note. I hate what Tuomas Pirinen is doing to Warhammer’s history. He has invented and renamed places (the crap about Kislev’s "Taiga" which I don’t think existed until he came along, and the beastmen sacking the town of Malthofen, of which there is no mention in the Empire army book), made the history stupider (the great war against Chaos- he makes Magnus the pious seem like an imbecile, and the "Good Guys" are outnumbered by about 100 to 1 and suddenly win for no reason, and the way Chaos is described there is no way there would be anyone who isn’t a Chaos warrior, beastman or Daemon on the warhammer world because Chaos armies apparently outnumber everyone despite the fact that they attack each other more often than they attack anyone else, Yeah nice ego Tuomas), and now the new Regiment of Renown article describes an empire that never has, and in my eyes, never will exist, and surprise surprise, it also outnumberes everyone hands down, although it has never ever been mentioned in any army book. All those who wish he didn’t work for G.W. raise your hands and say ‘I’.

It seems that my forum isn’t short. Well Goodbye -PETER C.
