Copy for the news letter needs to be to me by on the Friday of the week before we meet .- Kevin
Fees are now overdue for club membership for 2001. These are $30 for the year. This is the same amount we charged for membership this year and represents pretty good value in that you have the potential to play 24 games at the club during the year. That's just over a dollar a game plus you get this newsletter, friendly company, meet nice people and you know you can always win against Bryan or Ken anytime you feel like it! What more could you want for your membership fee?!!! Please pay your fees promptly because we need to pay the Church for the use of their hall for another year. Fees should be paid to Bryan Orsbourne. Thanks.
Well, Reign of destruction is over and as the dust settled the victors emerged triumphant, bloodied and sore but which only makes the spoils of war that much more sweeter.I think I can speak for those who participated, that that was a very enjoyable tournament. Everybody I saw played in good spirits and took both victory and defeat in good humour. Well done to all partipants for making this as good as it was. Special thanks must go to Ken Snow for judging the painting, Bryan O and Kevin C for the great prizes, informing everyone and putting up with me. Lastly but the least(just joking) is Peter for helping finalising the rules. To all those not mentioned, I won't thank you as I don't remember what you did which means you obviously didn't do anything; meaningful or otherwise.
The Reign of Destruction!
Ye Gods!
Am I nursing a severely injured pride after THAT one!
The tournament came, and the tournament went, and when all the dust settled and the wounded succumbed, all was clear that I got my arse served to me on a silver platter!!!
But most importantly it was a damn fun day!
Despite starting off with a crushing defeat to Wade, I highly enjoyed myself, and believe Im not the only one =)
Credit to Dave for once again turning up to make off with the first prize, Im sure well see him next time theres money to offer on a game of 40K! And then, there is Wade. Grrrrr. Okay, his first game was an absolute blood-bath! In two turns he managed to eviscerate or rout nearly every single model in my army! The only thing that WASNT running for it was my trukk! I will be avenged, oh yes, I shall. I believe myself the major contributing factor to his 2nd place status, heheeeeee!
But my compliments must go to Manoj, who basically stated that he didnt care about winning, all he cared was it was a good excuse to turn up and play heaps of 40K as hes unfortunately been surrounded by Fantasy as of late. Shot man, hope you enjoyed it!
Throughout the day a couple of quotes kept re-appearing, such as Two Wraith-lords????? Thats just sad! (by Ivan, I believe), Ive always wanted to take a Land-Raider full of Terminators in something like this by Kevin, Awwwwwww crap! (like you even need me to tell you that one), and, of course, BWAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, by my opponents and all that heard my ranking. And of course, we cant forget Damien and Kevin fighting over their sportsmanship points (defeats the purpose you think?)
Ive thoroughly read through each of the Army Lists submitted, and found the only one that was in error was corrected, and that person came last anyway (it wasnt me, Ill explain in a bit).
Due to inconsistency when working out the scores, it appears that the scores for Nick and Paul happened to be the same (instead of using Nicks score for for Nick, I accidentally applied Pauls score and Nicks painting score to determine Nicks score, but all has been amended now, and will become clear when I reveal all the results). Also, Pauls score was augmented by his painting score, yet the army he used was supplied to him on the day by Ivan, our Events organiser (well, one half of the events organisation team), and so the score for Pauls painting has been removed, as he did none of it himself, nor paid for it.
And so, without further ado, for posterity and historical recording, here are the officia

4th Manoj 60 Good, but some unpainted
5th Wade 50 Okay

8th Arthur 25 Poor
9th and 10th = Jaymesh and Nick 20 Poor
11th Peter 10 Poor, with a big gun (evidently Ken does not appreciate the painstaking lengths I went to paint my army in a respectable camouflage grey Peter)
12th Paul 0 (not his army Peter)
So there you have it, all the points as they stacked up in the three games, the painting scores (which I am remedying already as far as my camo-grey army goes), and the Totals to see how you ranked. All in all, Im rather pleased with the way the tournament went. There were few, if any, mishaps to contend with, everyone found the right tables and stuck to the schedule like they were supposed to, and after a brief explanation to the simple process to those that were unsure how to tally up their points, it all flowed rather well. Even if I did come tenth, which I must admit to (as well as the sound thrashings I received in round one and two, which reluctant as I am to, I must admit happened), I left with the knowledge that Ivan and I did a good job of the tournament. Now all thats left to do is paint up, and then form my devious plans to hold a NEW tourney in the lands of olde, when next December comes around and once more mighty armies are called to service for life, liberty, and fabulous prizes and another chance to paste my candy-ass from here to kingdom come. You know you want to!!!
-Peter
Ahhhhh, another year, another membership fee, another 12 months of getting my ass handed to me on a plate
Time to change that last one I hope! Okay, back to business: The ugly tyranid beasties are upon us REAL soon, as predicted. As anyone with net access has undoubtedly noticed much before now, they look damn good. The Orc and Goblin range is getting its much deserved overhaul, and looking particularly good. And yes, my beloved Empire is getting the plastic treatment, thank you God! I can now actually AFFORD these wonderful units I simply MUST have. Dwarves are returning to their former glory, with some interesting new rules and units, and some much improved models (always a good thing) Heard some rumours that the imperial guard may be getting a Cadian plastic kit, but no guarantees. All in all, Warhammer marches onward and progress besets us on all sides.
Now, to the main point of my ramblings:
Bakersfield, a small but vitally important hamlet of trade and commerce within the Empire, a town responsible for many ship-loads of provisions for assorted military organisations and markets, is in dire peril
The astromancers have found a number of ill-boding portents amongst the stars, the hermit mages are disturbed by the fears in the flocks and herds of bird and beast in the region, and the court necromancers are very confused by the bone-casts they have performed for the mayor, that simply state the two words Youre screwed Jon Davisz, the mayor of the imperilled town of Bakersfield, has sent desperate pleas for salvation to many Imperial Nobles, Electors, and even the Emperor Karl Franz himself. Little does he know it, the unfortunate mayor may find his desired salvation from forces much more enigmatic and unexpected than the Emperor himself
Okay, heres the general run down- Im interested in a game of Warhammer. Not just any old game, a big game! BIG GAME! Between 6-9 thousand points I think. Basically three on three, on the side of good I have already enlisted myself, and on the side of evil I have already the dark one Damien. Each player is allowed about 2000, or even 3000 points, but this will be worked out later when I have enough players. What Im looking for is two more people to play the Evil, which shouldnt be hard, black-hearted malevolent curs are easy to find no, my problem is finding GOOD GUYS. I dont see why it should be hard to find people who use Good Guy armies, I mean, who wouldnt want to lead the mediocre Empire army? Or the dress-wearing High Elves? Or the timid Wood Elves? Or the valient morons I mean Brettonians? Or the vertically challenged ones? Hell, even them slimy lizardmen, ANYONE! I need 2 more Good Guy players as well, which is considerably rarer at games club I believe. Im thinking it would be good to have this in March, so it gives me time to work out the details (and paint up some of my army, monumental task though it is, I need all the time I can get) so if this sounds like something youd like to try, get in touch with me, its time for the fun stuff and the BIG hitters! Its not often one gets to take part in a big game, you know you want to. Think about it and get back to me.
Okay, NEXT POINT!
Okay, weve heard about these, they sounded nice, but few of us have ever bothered to try them. Theyve usually been too restrictive for some peoples tastes, but now that the new edition of Warhammer has come out, it doesnt seem quite so restrictive, and is actually rather interesting and could be a lot of fun. So far its just an idea bouncing around in my head like an enraged bull smashing all the Fine China Plates of Education, and Crystal Vases of Higher Thinking, but in practice it would change little in the way of the games played at Games Club, and Id be happy to do all the real work involved. But, still, just an idea at present. Feel free to discuss it with me if it sounds interesting to you. And now for my final word.
Dark clouds are gathering. The fates are twisting. Forces are gathering, and before long, it will be time to choose a champion, marked by the blood of the fallen

Battle Reports
Battle Reports Reign of Destruction!
Round 1. Wade Mitchell (Blood Angels) beat Peter Colson (Orks!)
VROOOOOM! Vrom-vrom-vroooooooom!!!!!
Thump!
"Leg it!"
Thud-thud-thud
DAKKA-DAKKA!!!
WHIRRRR
CHING!
Slash, slash, thump, whack!
"ZOG! Were losin! LEG IT!"
Turn 2 defeat at the hands of a concentrated charge of two tactical squads against my Warboss and his Nobz, curse my good sportsmanship that reminded Wade he gets more strength and initiative when he charges!
Although the factor that actually caused me to LOSE, was that damned unit of *@%!^&# Death Company!!!!! But the worst thing was, that unit was under-sized, Wade forgot that you get D3+3 Death Company with a Chaplian .. I may collect Blood Angels in the future, bring out ol Mephiston and brush him off ..
Round 2. Arthur Young (pointy-eared poncy-gits) beat Peter Colson (Orks)
I shoulda shot the Striking Scorpions. I coulda killed them. Bugger it. Another defeat in hand-to-hand. This isnt supposed to happen to Orks. Imperial Guard perhaps, but not Orks! Although I can get a bit of satisfaction knowing that Arthurs Avatar almost killed himself when he destroyed my war-truck. If only I had taken just one wound more off him before he wounded himself with the exploding war-truck.
If only
Round 3. Peter Colson (Orks!) BEAT Nick .ummmmm, whatever his last name is (Midnight Marines Space Marines)
After the disastrous efforts of the new, self-appointed warboss Gargor Narthug were prematurely brought to a halt by an Eldar Avatar, fatally wounding the upstart warboss, Tuffgitt Stepped back into the spotlight. Now that the ladz knew who was in charge, they woz ready to administer some good old Orky Boot Levva to the proverbial posteriors of those irritating Space Marines again. The pesky Marines where inhabiting an old derelict residential complex, where they most certainly were NOT wanted. This made Tuffgitt happy. Time to bust some eadz. The marines checked their weapons with precision and care, unheeding to the fierce war-cries of the approaching Ork horde. One full tactical squad were occupying and old pill-box, intent on mowing down any Ork foolish enough to come within range. This formed the strong-point of their battle line, with the command group flanking the building to the lines left, and another full tactical squad flanking the right. Pulling up the rear was a land-speeder, ready to counter-strike where appropriate.
Tuffgitt sent his most trusted and capable nobs off to assault the front-line of the marines, Snikdreg Grodstompa leading a large mob of Ork Sluggas approaching the tactical squad that was to the left of the pill-box, and Skumrukk Slugwizza and his boyz were making a creeping advance directly towards the pill-box, laying down suppressive fire. While these two forces were occupying the Imperial lines, Tuffgitt and the rest of his Nobz were speeding around to assault the Imperials from behind. It was all too easy. The marines laughed when they saw four Orks stepping forward to fire their crude rockets, knowing that Ork accuracy was of the same quality as their grammar. Their laughs turned to screams of horror and woe as they saw 4 of their comrades burst apart from the explosive rockets which ALL HIT! As the war-truck rapidly approached the rear of the Imperial lines, hidden from their notice, the Nobs and their dynamic leader Tuffgitt Badskaga leapt valiantly from their war-truck, and landed with a heavy THUD none heavier than the mega-armoured Tuffgitt Badskaga himself, leaving an ork-sized indentation about a foot deep in the earth.
As they raced off to assault the space marines tactical squad outside the pill-box, their war-truck engaged itself in a Mexican Stand-off of sorts with the Land Speeder, each one being damaged only slightly, and rendering it unable to cause any damage to the other from turn to turn. The tactical marines fought spiritedly, but were quickly pummelled into submission by the harsh Orks, and the last remaining member bolted and ran for safety, followed by two Nobz, as the rest and Tuffgitt charged into combat with the marines holding the pill-box, almost simultaneously with the Slugga Boyz. As the pill-box was emptied of its inhabitants, the day drew to a close, and the Orks could claim the field as theirs (although I could have amassed a rather large score by occupying three table quarters instead of just killing Nick, but honestly, wheres the fun in that???)
