Yes, it's time for another exciting, thrilling episode of...
THE FORUM! |
Okay, right into it then.
I won't be sticking in rumours this time round, other than to say that it seems that Khemri is going to be the next Army Book after Chaos, and after that it's unclear, with Brettonians seeming the most likely
But anyway, onto other matters.
Inquisitor Tournament
Okay, this isn't actually an official thing, it's not a Games Club event, it won't be taking all day
It's simply I'm wanting to Gamesmaster a slightly 'different' game of Inquisitor.
This will take the form of a gladatorial tournament, featuring two heats and a final, with alternate threats thrown in to spice things up.
To make it a little more interesting, all participants and myself must put a wager of $2 in on their own character, and I just chuck $2 into the cash pool anyway, because I'm the generous sort. The Character that manages to take out third spot in the final gets its $2 back, second place gets $4, and the guy that takes the top spot claims all the rest
I have no date set for this yet, but at the very least it will be 3 months away.
I'm going to see how much interest there is in it, it should be very interesting, and I extend an open invitation to all and sundry to take part.
It will be played in 40K scale, you MUST provide a 40K scale model representative of the character you create, NO Space Marine characters are allowed as they tend to unbalance things, and existing Inquisitor characters may not be used
SAMWC Tournament Event
In January once more, as this happens to be a very convenient time for it, I'm wanting to hold another club tournament, open to all club members free of charge (of course, you have to have provided your club membership fee in either december, or that january, to be a member and therefore elegible to take part in the tournament, but thems the breaks right?)
I haven't yet decided between Fantasy and 40K (the two most played games at the club) and am still getting opinions on what the tournament should be. If you feel strongly that it should be Fantasy, or strongly that it should be 40K, tell me your preference, but if you don't really mind one way or another I won't force you to make a choice.
I'm leaning towards a Fantasy tournament, as it would give me an excuse to field my Goblin army, hurrah!
Necromunda
An old favourite, a brilliant game system, a great game.
I've picked up on some interest in it in the past month or so from a couple of members of the club, and I'm hoping to see a resurgence of popularity, and a return to some relative level of attention for this game. A lot of the newer members of the hobby will be unfamiliar with the game, but I'd be willing to show the new guys the wonders of this game. Don't hesitate to come up to me and ask for a game of Necromunda, I'll be only too happy to oblige
Warhammer Ancient Battles
Okay, several of the more senior members of the club already play this game, but a lot of us don't.
The thought of starting yet another full-scale army is pretty much the only thing that has deterred me thus far.
But I've found a way around that problem.
I'm forming a 1:72nd scale Ancients army or three, and hope that there'll be some others in the club who have an interest in some historically-slanted wargaming on this scale. After all, who wouldn't want to fight Cesar's Barbarian Wars, the Battle of Marathon or Thermopylae, the Crusades, the Hundred Years War, and many, many other famous battles of our history?
I have found that I can afford a 1:72nd scale army, and even managed to build a roughly 2000point army with only $22
So, it's definately affordable
Anyone with an interest in this or any knowledge of Warhammer Ancients, I want to talk to you.
NICON 2002: The Gamers' Perspective
After a solid month of distress struggling to find someone to cover my Sunday work shift, followed by a week where every waking moment was devoted to painting my Empire army, I had the pleasure of attending my first national-level tournament.
I had a blast, played a full six games against excellent opponents, and even managed to win one!!!
I was largely unprepared for the tournament, as was perfectly demonstrated when my ride had to wake me up on the saturday morning to go as I'd unfortunately set my alarm to PM rather than AM... a week of 4-hour nights was beginning to tell, and I should've taken it as an omen when my bottle of Ikon Energise had a defective tablet, meaning that rather than a potent source of energy and liquid consciousness, I was left drinking foul-tasting green water.
I also found to my horrer, that all the bad luck I've ever avoided in my life had returned with a vengeance this weekend!
It was ATTROCIOUS! The only panic tests I managed to pass seemed to be inconsequential ones for my 8-man Free Company detachments. My mortar, for the greater part, simply provided a 75-point fireworks display (although it was great getting a direct hit on G.W. Phil's High Elf Spearmen and watching the bastids run for two turns before, unfortunately, rallying). The amount of misses, failed armour saves, failed to wound rolls, failed spells, pathetic rolls in general, led me to believe that my dice had formed some sort of grudge against me
To be completely and absolutely honest, I have never had such a tremendously active run of bad luck in my entire life!
As for the games
First round, played against a Strigoi Vampire Count player, with Ghouls, Skeletons, Ghouls, Zombies, Ghouls, Spirit Host, and more Ghouls.
Highlight of the game was a stand-and-shoot response against a charging flying vampire thrall by my pistoliers, killing him before he managed to get to me. The down points were when his Vampire Lord and Vampire Thrall cut down my Greatswords, and my most important units ran off the table with unlucky Panic tests... Mental note, next year, bring Imperial Banner. I got Massacred.
Second round, I drew Reid Pittams, and we continued to have a very cut-and-thrust game with the most extreme luck on both sides... extremely BAD luck. Unfortunately it wasn't quite bad enough for Reid to allow me a win, if his damned Chaos Knights hadn't rolled that three for their break test against my weakest infantry unit, I would've crushed them utterly! And that would've changed things dramatically, said Reid to myself. Great game though, despite the terrible and extreme state of my luck. Reid won a Solid Victory against me.
Third round saw me facing a Dark Elf player whose army was dictated as mine was, i.e. whatever the hell he could paint in the space of one week.So there we were, both with pitifully under-strengthed armies, set to clash mightily. On my flank, my KNights and Pistoliers absolutely crushed his Dark Riders and Bolt Throwers, and on the left my infantry out-classed his (especially when Greatswords met Corsairs in a lovely flank charge) and his Sorceress was picked off first by a Hochland Longrifle removing the first wound, and then my wizard managing to cast his Fireball (one of the rare times he actually cast something) and burning her to a cinder. The result was a Massacre in my favor.
Round 4 saw me facing up against a Skink army... DAMN it was frustrating! A very disappointing display by my mortar, the table was covered with skinks and I barely managed to kill a single bloody skink with it! My handgunners also ran when a couple died to javelins. Essentially the game consisted of him running circles around me and taking out certain elements of my army. BUT, I captured the objective, and if it was played as a normal capture scenario, I would've won outright
Round 5 I faced Phil's High Elves. Stupid deployment was my downfall. My best infantry unit spent three or four turns climbing over a wall. Great. Apart from that, there was a unique satisfaction in crushing two units of spearmen and a unit of swordmasters with only a couple of small empire units, and a Mortar. Unfortunately one of the Spearmen units failed to run fast enough and therefore rallied before leaving the table. And the accursed Archmage, that soaked up SO many points in one model that killing the rest of the army barely achieved much (okay, half of the rest of the army) But, in all, it was a foolish deployment that screwed me up.
Sixth game was against another Dark Elf player. This is where Bolt Throwers hurt me SO much I wanted to curse their very existence. The game was pretty even, in fact we were only 50points off a Draw, and if I'd let him take his Army Standard Bearer as General, then I would've come out on top of that draw... but thems the breaks.
I managed to grab a score of 163 out of it all, 41 of which I got from my basic army selection, 20 for winning a massacre, 3 for losing a solid victory, 21 for losing three minor victories, and 0 for losing a massacre. The rest of the points came from painting score, sportsmanship, and army composition, awarded to me by my opponents.
Damien managed to win three of his games, getting at least one massacre, probably two (20 points right then and there for each massacre) and came out with a score of 165
Next year, we have both vowed to do better.
-Peter Colson, freelance editor, resident bumboy and odd-job man, and now, evil garden gnome
Okay, a better turn-out for battle reports this month, thanks for taking the time guys!
A couple of the games may have gone without battle reports, in which case I COMMAND you to feel guilty!
But marked improvement, thank you to all who have pulled finger and written these reports, for once I may actually know what's been going on in the spaces of time where I'd been oblivious due to killing goblins, elves and lizards...
Peter (Empire) beat Kevin (Goblins)
The bloodiest, and quite possibly most entertaining, game that I have ever had the fortune of playing!
To say I beat Kevin is a bit of a misrepresentation, partly due to the fact that sometimes his own army worked against him, and particularly because the game was so brutal there was probably about only 100points determining the winner!
Deploying my army with two large infantry units (Spearmen to the left, Swordsmen to the right) in the middle with their acompanying detachments, Greatswords on the right flank, just to the right of their crossbowmen detachment, and pistoliers on their right, to the left the halberdiers and detachment were flanked by 8 hand-gunners, a detachment of the Greatswords, and then the left flank anchored with a helblaster and five knights of the white wolf. I felt this was a particularly good defensive position, and wasn't particularly inclined to move, so as to allow my mortar deployed at the back to keep pounding goblins into squishy lumps
Facing off against me, left to right was two goblin wolf chariots, a giant, 20 Night Gobbo archers, another chariot, 30 night gobbos, a chariot, 40 night gobbos, a big unit of Savage Orc Boar Boyz, and then, on the far right, an Orc warboss riding a wyvrn, and a large unit of Goblin Wolf Riders.
I snatched the first turn, and promptly turned my Greatswords to meet the threat of the Wyvrn-riding general, and his escort of Goblin Wolf Riders. My pistoliers ranged out to the flank to help combat this threat, intending a flanking maneuvre on the Wolf Riders.
My Huntsmen, conveniently hiding in a forest in the middle of the battlefield walked right into 8" of the first Night Gobbo regiment, releasing the fanatics, who managed to just stumble forward disappointingly about 6 inches in front of the unit.
My shooting turned to the wolf chariots, training all 16 of my crossbow/handgun shots on one chariot, levelling it easily. The helblaster took aim at the other chariot in the centre of the goblin line, and managed to do very little at all.
Kevins response was to rush forward on my left with his Giant, moving his chariots up behind it. His Gobbo archers tried walking into range, and his Chariot in the centre trundled forward with the goblins to the right of it.
His Savage Orcs charged at the huntsmen, who wisely realised that discretion is the better part of valour, and ran like hell.
He moved cautiously up on my right flank, positioning the Wyvrn and the Gobbos to cause some trouble next round.
Two of his fanatics, however, collided, and were removed without damaging his own units. Damn.
I bravely sacrificed my knights, throwing them against the giant, managing to cause enough wounds to bring the combat to a draw
Not much else happened on my side of the table, and Kevin continued his advance.
A chariot went crashing into my sturdy knights, and slaughtered the beggers.
Unfortunately for me, the Goblin Wolf Riders also chose to charge, and they somehow managed a draw against my Greatswords with elector count!
Damn steroids they're putting in goblin food these days...
A chariot disappeared under a hail of Helblaster fire, and another disappeared when it charged through a goblin fanatic on its way to the spearmen unit!
As his Wyvrn turned up in the midst of my crossbowmen, I fought bravely, but then got munched, and the wyvrn took great delight in chasing and eating the survivors.
At the start of my turn, I had to take about 5 Terror tests.
My Mortar Crew passed. My detachment passed. My swordsmen passed. My other detachment passed. My Ld9 Greatswords... FAILED!
They bolted, chased down by those accursed Goblin Wolf Riders!
MY BEST PAINTED UNIT!!!
In an act of vengeance, I set my 5 pistoliers on the 16-odd gobbo wolf riders, flank charge, many, many hits, an absolute massacre, the surviving goblins ran like hell, pursued hotly by my Pistoliers.
The helblaster, about this time, ducked around behind the rocky outcrop of my hill... helblasters are scary, but giants in charge range are even scarier! Especially when you have to wait a turn to clear a barrell breach, damnit!
Goblins advanced, more fanatics jumped out, one even reached my spearmen and caused a couple of wounds!
And the dreaded Savage Orc Boar Boyz charged the swordsmen...
Routed with little difficulty... what went wrong?
The Boar Boyz charged in, got a mud-hole stomped in them, and ran, and were even caught, by my empire soldiers. Kevin has thus decreed that Savage Orc Boar Boys blow
The game was drawing inexorably toward its thrilling conclusion!
The giant advanced around the rocky outcrop, and my Helblaster's breach had been cleared... hur hur hur...
The two goblin units had some rather unfortunate run-ins with Mortar shells, and were rapidly making their way towards their table.
One last shot from the mortar scattered, exploded near the giant, and showered him in a tickling spray of hot metal fragments... he appreciated this. What came next, however, he did NOT appreciate.
The Volley Gun emptied its salvo and cut him to giant ribbons... and jammed the barrell AGAIN!
My Swordsmen set about chasing off the fleeing goblins, and my pistoliers, once more charging the goblin wolf riders, crushed them utterly, and swung around to help out in the fight.
My spearmen, rather unfortunately, suffered at the hands of goblins to the front, and a Wyvrn to the rear.
Things tied up rather quickly then, as the Goblin Chariot was beaten by the empire swordsmen (after detroying the free company detachment belonging to the spearmen) and the Goblin Archers were broken by magic-inflicted panic, the last goblin unit ran off the table, and all that was left was a wyvrn chewing on Helblaster Crewman remains. My side boasted a detachment of halberdiers, half an 8-man Hand Gunner Detachment, a unit of Swordsmen, and my pistoliers and bright wizard, I think.
Narrow victory for the few remaining empire models.
Peter Colson (Empire) beat Bryan Orsbourne (Vampire Counts)
I went for something completely different.
It worked. It worked really well.
Chances are I probably won't use this army often, or at all.
Bryans army consisted of a unit of Grave Guard, a unit of Black Knights, a unit of Zombies, and everything else was either little bat swarms, spirit hosts, or the abundance of Ghouls and Dire Wolves. Scouting beforehand indicated a single Necromancer, a Strigoi thrall, and a Wight Standard Bearer.
Me, I had a Wizard Lord (with Fireball, Fiery Blast, Conflagration of Doom, and the Wall of Fire spells), a Battle Wizard (Fireball and Fiery Blast), two Warrior priests, a unit of Spearmen accompanied by a Warrior priest, with two Free Company detachments, a unit of Pistoliers, 5 White Wolf knights, 5 Templar Knights (with the other Warrior Priest) a Helblaster, 10 Huntsmen, and a unit of 20 Flagellants.
Interesting match-up from the get-go
Now, the objective of the game was to claim dominion over the village nestled on the right-hand side of the table, and this would gain one an extra 500 victory points.
With this in mind, I deployed the Helblaster at the end of the longest street, and the Flagellants at the other street entrance, and the Huntsmen infiltrated into the tallest tower in the centre of the city.
The rest of my army ranged out to the left of the village.
Bryan deployed almost everything to the left of the village (my left, his right), leaving me facing off against no less then 3 or 4 Dire Wolf units, a large Grave Guard unit, a unit of Zombies, and about 30 Ghouls, and the utterly evil Black Knights, with my meagre Spearmen, detachments, and cavalry.
Early success was granted to Bryan, as on my far left he managed to scare off my Pistoliers just by looking at them (bunch of big girls blouses they were!).
His Black Knights weren't quite as lucky, as my Templars and Warrior Priest managed to hold them up for a few turns until the Thrall and Wight Standard Bearer turned up and removed the heads from most of my knights...
My Knights of the White Wolf were a different matter altogether, sweeping through first the Banshee, then a unit of ghouls, then pursued into another, then continued until both were either caught or routed
In the village itself, the Flagellants merely moved forward and looked imposing and Unbreakable, while my Huntsmen peppered the ghouls with longbow-fire, and the Helblaster took pot-shots at anyone within range.
The Wizards outdid themselves, the Wizard Lord single-handedly annihilating the Grave Guard over several turns of magical ordnance, and the Spirit Host fell to a similar fate at the hands of the Battle Wizard.
As my left flank crumbled, or in the case of my Pistoliers, took up Olympic-class sprinting as a hobby, Bryan was able to turn his attentions on the rest of my army. His Black Knights chased down my Templars, and eventually crashed into the Mortar crew, chasing them from the field of battle. His Zombie unit advanced at a stately pace, and his wolves wisely avoided combat with the Spearmen. My position there was strong with his Knights engaged with finding their way back onto the table. However, things were looking decidedly grim for my Knights of the White Wolf, who were chased by Dire Wolves, the Strigoi Vampire Thrall, and, worst of all, the surviving base of Bat Swarm! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
It wasn't long until the last of my proud knights fell
With the game drawing to a close, Bryan made a final attempt to close on the village. Unfortunately, my Helblaster destroyed the nearby Ghouls, my wizards reduced a unit of 10 dire wolves to only a single wolf, the other unit of Dire Wolves left getting thumped soundly by Free Company, and all other threats removed.
As the end of turn 6 rolled around, I had the village, which changed my 100 point victorious draw to a 600 point victorious Solid Victory
On reflection, my list was rather sad... considering how much magic I was throwing at bryan, he did incredibly well (a Vampire Counts with next to no magic?????) and I have this unnerving feeling that next we meet, things may prove rather painful for this humble freelancer...
The following reports arrived late and so could not be included in last months' Newsletter, so are included here as Manoj actually took the effort to write them, therefore they deserve to be read.
Manoj (Dork Elves) beat Peter (Empire)
The Battle for Helmgart
"Yes my Lord Malekith, you requested my presence?"
Why yes I did, there is a city within the Empire, Helmgarst, a pitiful Empire city that a contingent of my allies wants to sack and have requested we send a force to accompany them. I have chosen you to lead this force, and to claim greater glory for your house, and your race. Need I remind you of what happens to those who fall into my bad graces? So you better do you me good.
"Yes my liege, am I too assume that my troops currently serving in your army are to be returned for this expedition?"
No, I have sent them south to harass the High Elves so that they wont be able to muster a force to send to Helmgarst.
"What am I to do for troops? all I have left is my Citizen guard and those troops who were insufficiently trained to serve alongside you".
As you said, you have your citizen levy, remember what happened to Lord Gorath and how I destroyed his family when he disappointed me. I dont think you wish to be crucified and then watch your family be eaten alive by a horde of giant gnats. You will leave in two days. Begone from my presence, already you overstay your welcome and my generosity.
On the way home, Dark Elf Lord Calisse curses his liege lord Malekith. He has already given so much to Malekith and has received nothing in return for his unflinching loyalty. Why is this Helmgarst so important to him? Well at least we can gather some slaves to mine the foothills for the precious metals or entertainment. HA hah ha ha
Two weeks later, a column of troops is marching towards the Empire city of Helmgarst, the plan had been set up via magic, the forces of Evil will assault from all sides at once, hopefully to split up the defenders and spread their lines. Unfortunately allies had already arrived at Helmgarst and had dug in, forming defensive outposts, which would need to be over run.
Atop his mighty steed, Shuga, Calisse assesses the enemys deployment and tries to command his troops to take on a defensive role, we will let them come to us and riddle their bodies with our deadly crossbows and bolt throwers and then countercharge with our specialist troops. Yes that is how the enemy will fall, as long as they come forward towards us we shall be victorious.
The battle starts aaaaaaaggggggghhhhhhh the cowardly empire scum sits and expects us too trudge towards them, bah we will give them what they want then. Tell the Cold One knights to charge straight for their right flank and dont hesitate for anything. Witch Elves are to follow in my wake and counter charge when I say. The rest of you are now to be commanded by my brother magician Toobiscus. Attack, for the Glory of the Dark Elves ..
Okay, we shall stand and fight, crossbows, target any of there troops which come in range, bolt throwers, fire at those pesky mortars. Dark Riders dispatch those scouts that are trying to outflank us. Swordsmen and spearmen hold fast in case there is a counter charge.
Calisse swoops down out of the sky and burns all within his sights, empire troops are fleeing in terror at the might of this dragon reeking havoc amidst them. Closely followed by the charge of the Witch Elves breaking all resolve of the pitiful humans. All were destroyed on the left flank with no survivors. The mighty dragon Shuga was an unstoppable force slowly working itself across the battlefield burning those within range.
The magician Toobiscus leads his squad of swordsmen across the battlefield giving orders and casting spells left right and centre; though to his dismay the Empire had a strong magical defence in place and nothing was being cast. Luckily though the troops placed under his command were felling the enemy at a distance and he had only lost a few troops from. Wait those scouts who were meant to have been destroyed by the dark riders have flanked us and have charged a bolt thrower. Using his magical ability he tells Calisse this, fight on he replies, they wont get far. We have basically won, I am just exterminating the remnants of their troops, they have been spent. Those scouts are all that are left.
Swoosh, a unit of Daemons magically appears and charges the remaining scouts, wiping em out to a man. Our Chaos allies have come to aid us, do they not realise that we are already victorious, remind me to chastise their commander when I return. The battle for the East Side have been won, no two Empire halberdiers have fled off the table towards a different battle, probably to warn their allies that they have fallen and need reinforcements. Shuga to the air and pursue them ..
On the next battlefield shuga lands and charges into the pitiful humans, killing them in one swipe of his claw. But the attack was too late, the wood elves had been told the information, luckily a contingent of Undead had reacted to the incident and sent reinforcements onto that table to decimate the remaining fools. Apparently a Dark Elf general had lost the battle and had to be rescued by another army. Bwah Bwah.
Wait till Lord Malekith hears of this disgrace, that House will surely fall in the next few days.
(What can I say, a bloody battle. It was going to be interesting considering I took a defensive citizen army of Dark Elves, and peter had a defensive Empire army. It was basically a you move your troops towards me, no you move yours towards me. Etc. basically the Dragon won the game, having great mobility and a flame attack which teared through the large units of Humans. Overall a fun game and morning had by all. Thanks fro Organising the game Pete)
Manoj (Chaos Space Marines) beat Nick (Midnight Marines)
Because I really wanted to try out my super duper ultra quick berserker close combat army, I had to find someone to pummel into the dust. Luckily some unfortunate cadet raised his hand and said ill end your roguish generals pitiful crusade and watch you spiral into eternal damnation
Well since Im already there, I though well; those imperials need to die.
When facing a berserker army, any general know you stand back and try to shoot em down, this space marine general obviously missed his brainwashing, I mean hypnotherapy on tactics this week.
He tried to take them on in close combat and was systematically dissected. The berserkers trampled the Imperials into the ground and didnt even need to call on the eight terminators waiting upon the Doomlord to be teleported in.
All I can say that Nick gracefully retreated allowing victory to once again claim victory. The gods have definitely blessed this Black crusade which has already claimed 5 different battles. Each win taken in succour.
Long Live the Dark Gods and may the Imperials die for their False Emperor.
Scroll 17 of the Chronicles of Xetioatl.
Battle of the Piranha Swamps.
Lord Tenanoc's command consisted of 2 units of skirmishing Skinks, a single unit of one score sauries, two groups of mighty Kroxigor and some hired barbarians.
Subscript: Thirty two in number the were including twelve horsemen.
The enemy consisted of two foul sorcerers, a blood sucker on a horrifying Zombie Dragon, one score skeletons, two score zombies and some horsemen.
The barbarian horsemen swiftly annihilated the dead replicas of themselves clearing the left flank. The right flank was a more toilsome task as this was where the undeads strength was mobilized. The Kroxigor made short work of the zombies and skeletons with little help and suffering to lose just two of their number.
Finally, the mighty duel between his divine majesty Tenanoc and the foul vampire was decisive. My lord had no trouble in dispatching the foul creature.
Subscript: As noted by the skink commander at the time The Contemplating One was as calm as if he was picking fly's out of the air whilst contemplating; which is what he was doing during throughout the conflict.
Also note that his Saurus guards laid his palanquin in front of the zombie dragon's bloated carcass so that he could feed upon the enormous fly's that droned about the corpse. He took no further part in the battle.
Transcript Ends.
Anthony's bit:The duel between lords was very interesting. Considering the mage priest caused only 1 wound. Jaymesh succeeded in casting no spells, owing to my huge amount of magical defences my skinks carried.
Damien (Black Legion) beat Graham (Space Wolves)
Beat would be an understatement in this game, absolutely nothing went right or the Space Wolves, not only did they only manage to get ONLY ONE Marine into the Chaos held compound, he didn't even manage to kill a single Chaos Space Marine, he came close though, with one Marine avoiding annihilation from a a multi-melta shot from his Land Raider ever so barely, his Wolf Lord missing a 2+ combi-melta gun shot, and his lonesome marine in the compound missing with his melta gun from point blank range.
The Chaos forces, however, had a much better time shooting, by turn 2 a Grey Hunter unit and the unit of Wolf Scouts he had were basically turned into a bloody pile of mangled body parts with a LOT of holes in them. The Wolf Lords accompanying unit and his second Grey Hunter unit were severely mauled (one of which below half strength) while my Sorcerer lord was having a field day throwing big psychic bolts of doom towards anything in grey armour. And in an amazing, and rare, display of space marine gumption, he failed two morale checks (which were pretty easy to pass).
Just goes to show that those weak Imperial loyalists have got nothing on the glory that is Chaos. (Ok, so I got lucky somewhat, but I probably pulled off the best possible 40K win you could ever hope for...who's next?)
Someone with Space Marines beat Someone with Tau
The someone with Tau wrote the report though, so big ups to the Tau guy, I'll shout you lunch this month... provided you remember to put down the names of the players in your next battle report -Pete
The 12 Fire Warriors clambered up to the second floor of a nearby building, while the Shas'o and Shas'vre flew to the second.
The fire warriors shot at the Command Squad, but missed all shots (caused by being out of range). The Shas'o and bodyguards shot at the Terminators with missiles, but they were no use against the powerful tactical dreadnought armour (Terminator Armour).
The Marines charged forward and shot at the Shas'o with their Land Raider, but missed.
The Shas'o moved and fired at the Land Speeder, destroying it with his Armour Piercing Plasma Rifle (The bodyguards shot, but missed).
The Fire Warrior guns were no hassle to the command squad.
The Space Marines ran forward once again, and the Terminators pistols took out a Fire Warrior, before they charged up 1 floor of the building.
The Fire Warriors ran out the other side of the building to safety while the Shas'o and bodyguards moved around the corner to see the command squad, and fired all their weapons, but missed. They then flew up to the top floor.
The Terminators chased the Fire Warriors, shooting all weapons and killing all but 4, then charged and killed the rest of the poor Fire Warriors :(
They then advanced up to the Shas'o and Shas'vre.
The Shas'o fought the terminators, but their armour was too much for him, and the bodyguards fought pathetically.
The Terminators retaliated, and their strong attacks wiped out the bodyguard.
The Shas'o only made dents in the terminator armour while the Terminators ripped open his battlesuit like can openers.
No word came back to HQ as to that happened.
