Booking Games

Each month we organise the next month's games during the day. This usually happens between the Morning and Afternoon sessions when I, your Club Secretary (I prefer P.A. but the rest of the club executives dont appreciate my secretarial uniform of a tight black skirt - I do so have nice legs) will be going round trying to fill in slots for the next month. Now the rules are that fully paid members will be given first preference - we have limited space and those members who have paid for the year will have priority. At the meeting you can organise games amongst yourselves and the tell me or simply tell me what you want to play and I'll try and find an opponent for you. If you are not at the club meeting and you want to organise a game for the next meeting you can contact me by email at arthur.young@whitcoulls.co.nz, and I will see what I can do. Now if you have a game booked then you will get a table, if you have not organised a game with me then you will have to make do with whatever is spare (if there is anything spare).

The Forum

I'm going for a more classical looking title this month, because I'm currently partaking of the art of war... by this I mean I'm painting up my army in a frenzied flurry of brush-strokes as I've got 1 week and 75% of my army to go before the Fields of Blood tournament.
It should be a whole heapin' helpin' of fun, and I hope I don't end up playing the guys from the club, and instead find some NEW oppositon to get my figurative posterior figuratively kicked and handed to me on a figurative plate by...
Anywho, this will be short as I have, to be quite modest, a HELLUVA LOTTA PAINTING to do!
Fields of Blood
Shameless plug, I'm going to Fields of Blood, as are Damien, Bryan, Arthur, and Barry
This is being held at the Freeman's Bay Community Centre on the 13th and 14th of September, so on the Sunday, if you've got nothing to do, why not come along and see how your club representatives are doing?
As a consequence, the afore-mentioned will not be attending Games Club this month, but go to Games Club anyway, and organise a few games for us to play NEXT month when we go again
This will undoubtedly need to be directed at Kevin, as the only club administrator present, therefore the only guy there you can pressure into doing something resembling work =P
Warhammer Fantasy Campaign
Planning to kick it off in January, and have it run either for one year or for two
It will be a semi map-based campaign, with minor territorial bonuses that add a slight in-game effect. Plenty of scope for seige warfare, last stands and so on.
I plan on having a decently detailed map to explore, with various little fun things thrown into the mix, famous spots and local history etc.
There will also be a neutral nation headed by the shadowy and secretive Cartel, a collection of wealthy and powerful figures, who may interact in the proceedings of the campaign.
There WILL be rules for veteran units in this campaign, and characters, which should add an interesting element to the game.
Basically, I need to know how many people are interested in this campaign, so I'll know how big I should make the map
I also need to know what your main armies will be, so I can make the appropriate preparations for these armies. You may play with any army you own in this campaign, but only your MAIN army will be able to hold land and take part in the final showdown.
So please, when you see me, indicate any interest you have in this campaign, and any suggestions you think might be good for it
Also, e-mail me at colson@xtra.co.nz to let me know you're interested, ask me anything you wish to know, give me suggestions to include in the campaign, etc.
Battle Repots
Well, it would be nice if you guys wrote some...
BIG GAME OF WARHAMMER!
Barry wants a BIG warhammer game.
I want a BIG warhammer game.
Barry has Dwarves, I have Empire, excellent allies.
Now all we need is two opponents to make the biggest armies they can manage, so we can have a BIG game of Warhammer (WARhammer! Not MINORSKIRMISHENGAGEMENThammer anymore!)
December would be a good month to play it, or possibly november
Anyone even remotely interested?
2-3 opponents would rock, no more than 3 though
Let us know

Battle Reports

Peter (Empire Knights of the Order Avermanni) beat Robert (foul and treacherous Skaven)
Gughh, filthy, dirty rats!
Unluckily for Robert, I was wearing about an inch of armour on almost all bodies in the army, and his army didn't have many can openers
I let my cheapest, smallest Knight unit perform Cannon Fodder duties by blocking the Skaven Jezzail's Line of Sight to my expensive big knight units, who then eneded up being simultaneously charged by a fully ranked Skavenslave unit, and a unit of Gutter Runners in the flank, and managed to hold out and win combats at times, for the rest of the game, whilst STILL getting shot at by Jezzails!
My Pistoliers performed admirably, and despite a few stumbling blocks and close calls, my Knights did an outstanding job of clearing up the vermin, slaying rats with wanton abandon.
Jonny (Nurgle Daemons) beat Peter (Imperial Armoured Division)
Gughh AGAIN! Filthy rotting cespits of Nurgle badness.
It was near impossible to flank this walking plague, and my head-on charge into the daemons was repelled thanks to the accursed Great Unclean One!
I simply failed to get the combat resolution to damage the massive mutha, and neither of the Plaguebearer units went *POOF!* back into the warp, so I was stuck struggling against the horrid nasty things whilst the lighter elements of my army failed to perform.
Learning point for this tournament practice game? Don't try to take on Daemon armies in a fair fight, hit them in the behind, avoid Greater Daemons of Nurgle like the plague... yes I know it looks like a bad joke, but it's a coincidence, let it go!
